In my personal opinion, this is Statham's best performance of his career. Yeah he's an action movie star and doesn't really do a lot of these type of movies and his get it, he is not the greatest actor out there and he's sticking to what works for him and makes him the most money. However if anyone tells me "Jason Statham is just Dwayne Johnson, he can't act" I would just tell them to watch this movie. "Hummingbird" is a very dark movie, the story is pretty bleak and brutal, the characters are very realistic ( even the MC played by Statham, yeah he is a badass and is capable of dishing out extreme violence but the characters background story explains why he is so good at violence. ) and Statham's character is also very human. At the beginning of the movie he is at arguably the lowest point that a man can reach, vulnerable, weak ( both physically and mentally ) and literally lives on the cold streets of London. As the story progresses his situation improves, but only on a superficial level. He is still very much a man who is hurting and suffering on the inside, a result of his own actions in the past. There are glimpses of hope throughout the movie for the MC and the main supporting character, who is his love interest who is also a broken person with a very dark past. A great movie, 9/10 for me. Highly recommend. A/9 V/10 thanks YIFY
One of the best British movies of the 70's and my personal favorite performance by the great Michael Caine. The original "Get Carter" is superior in every way to the 2000 American remake starring Stallone. The first time i watched this movie years and years ago i was shocked by the ending. This movie is brutal in so many ways and it's not for everyone but to me this one of the best "gangster/revenge" movies of all time. 9.5 out of 10.
One of my fav 90's "teens in Highschool in a supernatural/sci-fi scenario". Is it a masterpiece? No. Is it a fun movie with interesting plot and entertaining characters? Yes it is. A solid 7.5 for me just for it's entertainment and nostalgia value.
And yet another beloved franchise bites the dust. I know that the first, original Matrix movie is the one that is actually really, really good. It was somewhat original ( well for the most part but the Wachowski "entities" stole the core idea from "Dark City" if you don't believe me go check it out ) but still the first Matrix movie is beloved for a reason. It was something special for many different reasons. Reloaded was definitely an inferior movie overall and Revolutions was a huge let down but still it sort of ended the story in a somewhat satisfying way. The story was done. There was no need for a sequel and if they did actually plan to make another Matrix movie, it should've been done years ago when the fans were still interested in this franchise not 17-18 years after Revolutions. I won't spoil the movie for the people who have not seen it yet but it's pretty bad. I expected it to be bad but it was even worse than I imagined. Jada Pinkett Smith was arguably the worse part of the movie and the fact that they killed off Morpheus but didn't "really kill him" was beyond insulting to the fans of the original trilogy and the fans of the character of Morpheus. Laurence Fishburne IS Morpheus and he was/is a big part of what made the first movie so good and special. In this movie "the old Morpheus" died and he is described a fanatic who worshiped Neo and who believed that nothing really bad will happen again thanks to actions of Neo in "Revolutions" but guess what, he is an idiot who nearly got all the humans killed ( according to the oh so wise Niobe, played by the terrible Jada Pinkett Smith ) and he died but not really because now he is back played by some other actor and it is wonderful! This Morpheus is so much better than the old Morpheus ( that was sarcasm btw ). All in all, this movie was terrible and it should not have been made. I feel bad for Keanu but then again he didn't have to agree to make this movie, he's got tons of money not to mention that his career was doing just fine thanks to the John Wick movies, he didn't need to do this movie and I don't know why he agreed to be a part of this abomination. Anyway thanks for the movie YTS.
