Plot summary

In this film based on a Neil Simon play, newlyweds Corie, a free spirit, and Paul Bratter, an uptight lawyer, share a sixth-floor apartment in Greenwich Village. Soon after their marriage, Corie tries to find a companion for mother, Ethel, who is now alone, and sets up Ethel with neighbor Victor. Inappropriate behavior on a double date causes conflict, and the young couple considers divorce.

Those that state the movie is dated must not appreciate movies older than them. Every movie can be considered dated after its release. This is a classic Neil Simon story that film buffs will enjoy.

The best romance of all time? 'barefoot in

the best romance of all time? 'barefoot in the park' is a romantic comedy that gets off to an outstanding start: an excellent opening montage introduces us to its protagonists with charm and freshness. the settings perfectly serve their purpose, drawing us into the story and making us feel part of it. the performances are brilliant, with a flawless robert redford and a jane fonda full of energy and naturalness. the characters are so well-written that it’s easy to connect with them from the very beginning. the direction, plot, and screenplay work like a precise mechanism, creating a fun and delightful experience. the dialogue, moreover, is perfectly crafted and flows so smoothly that it can be enjoyed from start to finish. it’s true that the film experiences a slight dip around the middle, but it never loses its way: it stays strong until reaching a charming and well-executed ending. charles boyer, who at first seems somewhat out of place in the story, ends up being essential in enhancing the central relationship between redford and fonda, adding an interesting and necessary twist. in short, 'barefoot in the park' is one of redford’s best works and a romantic comedy that, despite its ups and downs, shines thanks to the chemistry of its leads, its well-crafted script, and its timeless charm. spanish: el mejor romance de todos los tiempos? An accurate for the time, but different from todays' standards, representation of the needs and reactions of a woman. However an accurate to this day example of how man can go wild for the woman they love.
