Plot summary

Billy is an innocent, naive seaman in the British Navy in 1797. When the ship's sadistic master-at-arms is murdered, Billy is accused and tried.

I have loved this film since the first

I have loved this film since the first time I saw it in college in the 1960s and , during law school, drove all the way across Washington DC to see a second time, even though I knew I would only catch the last last half of it. Totally worth it. Spectacular performances by peter Ustinov, Terrence stamp as bully budd, and the ripping performance of the embodiment of evil played by Robert Ryan as the master at arms. A true classic.
