@grancabeza The film began development in 1999. The crew actually travelled to the actors to record their voices, instead of having the actors come to them. With her work on the film already complete, Bancroft sadly passed away in 2005 before the film was finished with production. More details on her official Wikipedia page.
I am obsessed with this series [Released as this film: 'The Feature']. It has two more installments, 'Baby Oopsie 2: Murder Dolls' and 'Baby Oopsie 3: Burn Baby Burn'. 'Demonic Toys: Jack-Attack' was also released very recently. The lead actors were and are viral famous for their content on TikTok and The IG. These films and 'The Puppet Master' films are seriously spicy B-Movie junk food and I am quite addicted!
James Franco being in the cast and dying before we even get to see his face, only in a flashback scene... was kinds genius I think. It made me appreciate his rare role because his character is basically the main character of Alien: Covenant Origins [Novel and Audible Audiobook], and as fans of the franchise, we always appreciate that extra scenes become short films featured as bonus content. Feel really bad for his character because he went through hell just be trusted as Captain [basically skating in on his wife's curtails]. And he's really ill right before he goes into hyper sleep. He gets jolted awake after a crash and burns to death on the spot. POOR GUY. This is of those franchises I just can't get enough of. I literally watch the ALIENS and PREDATOR FILMS for comfort and feel like I learn some new detail each time. Sure the Universe isn't without it's flaws, but all of the novels, audiobooks and dramas, comic books, countless video game cannon, digitial series'... deep dives into other works of film and television fiction that too dwell within the overall Universe. As with any long running franchise, each bite ain't the same as the last one, but it's still overall, a really damn good meal.
I really loved how ethereal this film was. It's original, and the visuals make for some pretty trippy scenes. It is a guilty pleasure. Obscure enough to eventually be a cult classic imo. I love left to center spiritual takes like these.
I like to think I have a pretty high tolerance for irrationality in films, but this one pushed me over the edge. I made myself watch until the end, but just to see if my upset was really founded... yes, it was. The film started pretty successfully imo. I was interested in the characters and wanted to see how their story would unfold. As the film progresses though, these teen's numbness and detachment from reality becomes more and more apparent and felt. They were so unabashedly unfazed by a frightening death aop, I thought it was laughable. They seem to care very, very little about the losses they take on as their vacation lengthens. These teens have no sense of humanity or responsibility. They try to, but the writing and direction ultimately dooms them and their plights pretty flat. The film really seems to lack any real character substance. Especially by the end, as you tap anxiously waiting for the credits to roll, so you can turn it off frustrated they got away with calling it a wrap in the first place.
