Subpar movie for Steven. First half hour one doesn't understand what's going on. Then it becomes a purely action movie for a looong time, and finally turns into a Roswell type story, but without adding absolutely nothing to all that we have already seen. Now, since the movie was supposed to be about disclosure, and considering where we are at in history, the really interesting thing to do was to begin the story from where this movie ended, namely the disclosure. What would the consequences be in our world once it becomes official and tangible that there is an extraterrestrial presence on our planet? That would have been worth exploring.
Well executed, and warm... but... I can't dispel a little voice that says: here is a totally announced release, obvious, too obvious story where the AI is, thanx to futuristic developments, once again humanized and getting under our skin. And here we are once again flirting with technology to the point of trusting it, after the due sceptical phase, with the replacement of our human relationships. Good execution of an already trite, at least in this case, subject. Where is the mystery, the alienation? The protagonist and therefore the writers, seem to take it all just a tad too casually. I give it a 6.
Greatly overrated movie. Sleek direction and photography etc... but of what? The script is beyond poor. The characters are too few, too predictable and too thin. Dialogues are almost non existent. We get the point, but even that,... does it help to criticize the objectification oh the female body while offering a thousand and one close-ups of a nice ass as entertainment? The director might say that that is exactly the point of controversy, but I'd say that that is a very convenient and, in the end, hypocritical stance. I give it a 5.
This movie is one of the best you'll ever watch. Alan Cumming's Rudy Donatello is worth 2 oscars, the story is strong and true, no sugar added. My vote: 10
Only very few movies get close to this incredible masterpiece of comedy, to the layering of the plots, the unforgettable characters and their superb, subtle actors... Everything in this movie is perfect and feels like a breeze of naturalness! There is nothing like the BIG LEBOWSKY.
I much prefer the vitriolic bona fide Roald Dahl satire, edgy and politically incorrect Wonka, so perfectly incarnated by Johnny Depp, to this saccharine, castrated rendition. In the end, thanks to showing the shadow within the hero, the Depp movie reaches much more deep and is able to teach the lessons meant in the text.
