At first I thought it was another boring disaster movie with loser characters, then for a while I thought it was getting good, then it ended up being a shallow, preachy anti-war movie. Bleh. Cameron sure likes to make preachy movies, doesn't he?
OK, so this was pleasantly surprising in some ways, and disappointing in others. First of all, I think it was better than the 2005 Doom in that it was actually the Doom story and mythos. Demons instead of bio-mutants, guns instead of fistfights, and the actual BFG gets USED in this one, for crying out loud. It's low budget, with only one demon type, but I still think it is well worth a watch for fans of the games, especially Doom 3. I've been a diehard fan since '93, and I enjoyed this.
