Well shot and thoroughly engaging but the more I watch A24 horror, the more I feel they are just trying to get me to watch a family drama under the guise of horror but more importantly, what's with the dehumanisation and demoralisation of women A24? ---------SPOILER------- I miss the old horror girl protagonists who would come out a battered survivor and not cukc-out to adversity & submit. Evil can fk off.
I watched Fresh and then this softcore-cringe and the more you know, the more you realize how hypocritical "some" female consumers of fiction are. They both want to be dominated by sociopaths and hate the sociopaths for doing said dominating. And they wonder why Andrew Tate gets as many women as he does. Freakin idiocy. Like bro, grow some self-awareness.
It's interesting, in that it's a snarky progressive project to strawman its opponent. The funny thing is, neo-liberals are suddenly afraid of a coup, something they have perpetrated in other nations for decades now? LOL
A brilliant anatomy of evil. It rightly shows how most extremists are predisposed by their own moral intuitions and their culture to become evil and not due to some inciting incident. They're just looking for an excuse. To show this, the movie rightly doesn't start chronologically and only shows the Bosnian stuff after Act 1. Succinct performance by the lead actor. As for the pro-islamists in the comments getting salty. Yall do know that Omar Sheikh was a real Pakistani terrorist right? The Anjelina Jolie movie, 'A Mighty Heart' also portrayed Sheikh being just as bad. The Islamist culture portrayed is accurate as well.
Just wow. People say neo-noir is the rightful heir to film-noir but maybe neo-noirs can risk it and borrow more from its predecessor, instead of being too post-modern and maybe then we'll see phenomenal movies like LA Confidential more often. The movie is not lit like in film noir but you'll see a Venetian blind or two, but it ABSOLUTELY has the soul of film noir and Kevin Spacey kills it.
