Based solely on its themes and premise, it's a good film overall, but its weakest point is the ending, which is completely anticlimactic and disappointing. The film should have been called "The Prelude to Disclosure Day."
The movie is surprisingly entertaining. I didn't have high expectations, to be honest, but it managed to entertain and interest me. Perhaps they would have reduced the screen time of her being drunk or hungover; that part of the plot was too tedious. Like... okay, we get the point, let's move on, but they insisted on showing her in that state for too long.
If it weren't for the sound editing and mixing, it would have been completely forgettable. The story manages to pique your interest and builds momentum until it's ruined by an anticlimactic ending.
Perhaps I was expecting much more, but I was actually bored throughout the entire film. I waited for almost two hours for the story to pick up, but it never did. Totally disappointing.
I'm not a fan of these kinds of movies, nor of the franchise, but I quite liked this one. It has a depth to the story that I wasn't expecting, and the body horror was very well handled. It also expands the film's "universe" by adding lore and details that make you want to know more. Very well done overall.
