In 1937, amidst Stalin's Great Terror, a newly appointed prosecutor for the USSR is made aware of alleged corruption in the Secret Police, and takes it upon himself to investigate.
@Brent Marchant You wrote a lot to say nothing, congratulations!
I liked this movie, and I enjoyed it as it was. Predictable! So what? Who cares? Very good acting, very well written, and that's it. I don't really understand what people want and what they are looking for. How can it be possible to give only 1 star to this movie? Of course, if you are brainless you can then. No clever person would give a rating so low. BTW, mine is 8/10.
The ending is so predictable and amateurish that it greatly diminishes the masterful acting and filmmaking that makes up most of the film. I kept thinking of Samuel Beckett--it is sometimes that good.

How can you say it's predictable when it's actual history?
