Plot summary

Laurie has been in show business since she was a child. Her dream is to be a singer, songwriter and actress. Her father wants her to be a comedian like him and Laurie only tries because it pleases her father. But she is a lousy comedian. She auditions for everything and is engaged to Ken, but Ken does not understand her needs. She has a one night stand with Chris, only to later find that he is a director. She has many emotions that have not yet been addressed and she must face them before she can get on with her life.

This is one of those movies where your

This is one of those movies where your dislike for the film itself is only eclipsed by how badly you feel for those involved in making it. Conn seems like such a lovely person in real life, and she's irresistible as Frenchy in the GREASE movies, so it hurts to admit that she fails miserably on every single level of this performance. It's often painfully uncomfortable to watch, but much of the move is as well. The worst scenes are Conn doing stand-up comedy, and her singing is so badly lip-synced that you don't believe for a single solitary second it's actually her belting out that nauseating Oscar-winning tune. The romantic scenes are as badly written as they are acted, no two actors in the whole production sharing an ounce of chemistry together. The screenplay is sub-daytime soap opera material, and the whole thing just has a cheap feel to it. I'm honestly not sure what compelled me to give this a try, but I guess your first instinct isn't always the right one after all. Bad movie lovers may want to check this one out.

My favorite grandma memory before she passed. She would play this song every time I would visit her. Not sure about the movie, I was only 10, but will still give it a 5 as everyone else tore it about. C'mon...it was the '70's!

Loved everything about this movie. Didi Conn was wonderful. Loved it so much that we had the song sang at our wedding the following year.
