Plot summary

Naïma has just turned 16. This summer, she will have to decide what she wants from life if she doesn’t want to miss out. Then her cousin Sofia arrives, with an amazing body and a dangerously seductive lifestyle. Naïma desires only to follow her own path, so long as it leads upwards… Despite the warnings of her best friend Dodo, she and Sofia will live through unforgettable encounters during a long summer that will mark them forever.

I loved this film, above all for its

I loved this film, above all for its atmosphere. It invites us to slip into the skin of people who live primarily through their bodies and appearance, which, in this case, also happens to be their working tool. Some scenes left a vivid, lasting impression on me — not for their drama, but for their sun-drenched simplicity and emotional nuance. I particularly appreciated how the death of Sophia’s mother is barely addressed in words. Instead, we feel its weight and consequences unfold subtly through action and behavior, which makes it all the more powerful.

This film was my favorite pandemic release. A sensual and provocative coming of age, set in epic Cannes. This film studies the percieved value of character or charisma. Evocative performances by an excellent cast ensemble. Most notably the seductress, meant to be a huge star but the pandemic happened... Sensitive poignant Direction... Totally worthwhile, even subtitled.
