It is 1879 in the Dakota Territories, a band of men who set out to find and recover a family of settlers that has mysteriously vanished from their home. Expecting the offenders to be a band of fierce natives, but they soon discover that the real enemy stalks them from below.
This is a frustrating movie that had a good story line that stumbles and drops the ball about halfway through. It was original, it was interesting, Horrifying monsters, but suddenly these dragged out scenes and the confrontation and the ending that was pointless and without closure. A movie that had such great potential but fell flat as if they suddenly made changes to the script 2/3's through. Completely unlikeable characters and like I said a horrible ending. Frustrating to lose such potential in a good original horror premise.
It's a good movie. Not something that'll become one of your favourites, but you won't regret watching it. Original ideas and some really creepy scenes and concepts.
This is a solid B+ at a minimum. If you're at all on the fence, go for it. There is no clear white and black here, the characters are all drawn in shades of gray. The way the creatures feed is terrifying. It's a movie that stays with you after you've seen it.
