Not Asylum's worst, but that's not saying much!

Obviously released by The Asylum, at the tail end of 2025, to coincide with the Paul Rudd/Jack Black 'Anaconda', a film I gave exactly the same score to, so they aren't doing too badly! For an Asylum film 'The Anacondas' is actually far from their worst, some of the snake SFX are actually quite good, well until the end, when they start to get very suspect and I'm now starting to second guess whether they are incorporating AI as well. Green Screen work is terrible.Acting is, pretty much, what you would expect from a mainly unknown cast in one of these films, it's obvious the female characters weren't picked for their thespian skills, but for who looked good in a pair of shorts, they were all interchangeable with each other. The only actor I recognised was Dominic Keating, who seems to be making a career out of playing the odd, British character in low-budget films (and could someone teach him how to run, he looked like Mr. Bean).Story wise, it starts of just about the right side of silly and by the end, veers into ludicrous, where they just copy what they did with Tara Reid in one of their Sharknado films and, as usual for an Asylum film they get to a certain point, cram most of the killing into the final 15 minutes (so the actors are getting their full quota of contracted screen time) and then end everything as if they had run out of money or ideas...probably both.At the very least it kept me watching and rolling my eyes for 90 minutes and it was of a slightly higher standard than Asylum films like 'Megapiranha', 'Zoombies' and '30,000 Leagues Under The Sea'.

Wow, seriously...?

Right, well as soon as the movie started as The Asylum's logo popped up, my expectations to this movie went from slim to none.Writers Ryan Ebert and Marc Gottlieb didn't exactly put together a particularly riveting narrative in the script and storyline. It felt very bland and pointless, and that made for a less than enjoyable viewing experience. One thing that worked in favor of the movie, for me at least, was the fact that I wasn't familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list. The acting performances in the movie were adequate. The CGI animated anacondas were not badly made, but they are hardly in the movie, which kind of baffled me, especially since the movie's title is "The Anacondas".If you enjoy monstrous snake movies, then this is hardly an outstanding movie, and I would not really recommend you to waste 86 minutes on it. Nor is it a movie that will ever grace my screen a second time. The movie's cover was actually the best thing about this entire ordeal. My rating of director Marcel Walz's 2025 movie "The Anacondas" lands on a very generous three out of ten stars.
