This movie is the start of the history to demonization of cannibis. William Hearst and the his cohorts of the Dow family to lobby the get cannabis listed as a schedule 1 drug, basically outlawing the plant. Hearst, who was heavily invested into the lumber industry, and the Dow family chemical textiles and even pharmaceuticals, would gain control and corner their perspective markets. This is an early look at mainstream media propaganda influencing large target audiences. As a child, I asked the question, "how can another person (man) tell another he can't use a plant that grows on the earth?" Go figure.

l can tell you from personal experience that weed is very beneficial. My back problems are relieved when l'm high. And l know my mom beat cancer with the help of eat weed brownies. Of course the surgery helped too, but she's now cancer free and at least some of it was due to the icky sticky.

This movie was made at a time when pot was heavily vilified, today a great number of doctors and scientists have confirmed that this plant is actually a health benefit, as long as it's not abused, like everything else.
