As far as obesity goes, it is a problem with Americans in general, not just native Americans. But, with Native American traditions, such as drying meats to preserve them, it causes slow digestion, but lots of energy, which was good on the open plains. Now, most Native Americans aren't that active, so the energy isn't used, and the meat doesn't digest, it just builds into fat, or excess energy. Indians don't run and hunt all day anymore. Americans have become couch potatoes.
