If bugs creep you out, this is not the movie to watch. It is a little disgusting. The storyline itself is good.

Adults raised in the same orphanage reunite at their former home to pay respects to the director who is now deathly ill. Secrets are exposed. The only connection this has to the 1981 film is the name of the main character, Murni. Whereas in the earlier film she was the protagonist, here she is mainly in the background. I find it hard to believe this dull bore has a 91% on RT. It has a plot that suffers from a lack of internal logic and little of the story offers original material let alone thrills.

As Logan D mentioned, the utter lack of internal logic plunged me into such a disappointing mood throughout the exposition and I am not sure if it was the good cinematography or the fact that I want to cheer on my fellow southeast asians that kept me going. Practically every single choice that was made by a character in the first 45 minutes of the movie was inherently, and even in execution, done with such lack of thought that it broke all sense of realness, even by horror movie standards. I am glad that I stayed for the ending, though, as it was the best part in revealing the painful themes of intergenerational trauma and how its perpetuation buries truth. The twist was conventional in nature but executed nicely, and SFX were great and gory in typical Indonesian fashion.
