If you're looking for 1930s era melodrama you

If you're looking for 1930s era melodrama you could do worse. The story with Powell and Francis is very good, but I felt distracted by the presence of two superfluous con artists who do nothing to advance the story, their only purpose seems to be providing unnecessary comic relief.
