No idea why this is so highly rated

No idea why this is so highly rated. In the first 27 minutes it’s kind of boring. A young girl has a young and immature single mother who hooks up with different men, first living in a commune off the grid and then in the regular Canadian society. None of the events presented so far is filmed in an original way. More like an unoriginal home movie. Maybe later on the little girl, who is now an adolescent, will have a career in modeling, but I will never find out. On Prime.

This Mother-Daughter film was beautifully shot and brilliantly acted. The narrative structure was well thought out, bringing together pivotal moments in the tough life of a girl drifting from place to place. Her Mother is completely incapable of parenting, exposing her daughter to instability and an assortment of dysfunction men. Yet, the Mother does love her daughter in her own quirky mixed up way. The final scenes are riveting and heart breaking. It is sad that this small Canadian film will not have a wider audience. It’s an original! It’s has a few missteps but is a fascinating story. I was fortunate to see this film and hear a brief talk from the woman who this Memoir is based. Again, Too bad more people won’t see it.

I don’t even know where to begin. This

I don’t even know where to begin. This movie was intense in the best possible way. I hadn’t heard of the story before watching it, but now I can’t wait to read the book. From start to finish, it was emotional, powerful, and profoundly affecting. The film didn’t shy away from sadness or tragedy, and it was depressing at times, but never meaningless. Every heavy moment felt intentional, beautifully written, and thoughtfully executed. The storytelling pulled me in completely, and the performances made the emotions feel raw and honest. Despite how heartbreaking it was, I couldn’t imagine not watching it. It was the kind of movie that stays with you long after it ends, painful, beautiful, and unforgettable. I loved it.
