Plot summary

Adrienne is trying to decide whether to stay in her unhappy marriage or not, and her life changes when Paul, a doctor who is travelling to reconcile with his estranged son, checks into an inn where she is staying.

The Thrift Store Owed Me Money for This My wife and I picked this up during a buy one get two free DVD sale at our local thrift store. After watching it, I wish I could return it. The acting is solid and the chemistry between the leads works well, with Paul’s character arc handled fairly well going from jagoff to likable. It’s also a nice looking film, especially the house, and there are a few heartfelt moments that land. If you’re into sappy romance movies, this might be your thing. My wife usually is, and even she thought it was just okay; she gives it a 6/10. That said, it’s a slow watch. I hated Paul for the first two acts, and the sex scenes felt out of place for a romance. The ending also felt rushed and undercut everything the movie was building toward. Adrienne’s final scenes had some emotional weight, but overall it just didn’t land for me.

3rd film starring pairing of Diane Lane and

3rd film starring pairing of Diane Lane and Richard Gere (Cotton Club & Unfaithful the other 2). Not usually a rom-dram fan but this one isn't bad. Chemistry between the 2 leads is superb and the ending is emotional. Worth a watch when you're bored on a Sunday afternoon.

Casting was not good. No chemistry between the actors. Found it difficult to even cry when Paul died as there was no connection with the characters. Would have given it 1 star, but the scenery was pretty and I liked the horses at the end.
