Plot summary
After a wizard's spell goes awry, 12th-century Gallic knight Godefroy de Papincourt, Count of Montmirail finds himself transported to 1993, along with his dimwitted servant, Jacquouille la Fripouille. Startled and perplexed by modern technology, the duo run amok, destroying cars and causing chaos until they meet Beatrice de Montmirail, an aristocratic descendant of the nobleman, who may be able to help them get back to 1123.

@benebrux...the french movies are Les Visiteurs 2 and Les Visiteurs 3 so they a sequels, even if it plays other periods. Even the American version could be considered as a sequel although it is tagged as a remake, as the setting is completely different and Clavier and Reno play in it. The reasoning behind the one in America was that the 1st movie was quite liked but could only be shown in original with subs in the USA as you can't translate some of the jokes.
This is one of my all-time favorite movies. But I'm almost sure you have to be French to really enjoy it

This film had a French remake in 1998, an American remake in 2001 and another American sequel in 2016. Since the knight and the squire are the same actors in the four films, and the remakes are also a kind of sequels (so French...), you might end up remembering the whole thing as a big patchwork quilt. But the French love this 1993 version!
This is a good example of what happen when you grab automaticaly (Like Cut & Paste) by software the info from special site. This is the German title. English title: The Visitors. The Original French Title: Les Visiteurs.
