Plot summary

The future of Marguerite, a brilliant student in Mathematics at the prestigious Ecole Normale Supérieure, seems all planned out. The only woman from her year, Marguerite is finishing a thesis she has to present to an audience of researchers. On the big day, a mistake shakes all her certainties and all her foundations collapse.

This is worth it for the performance of

This is worth it for the performance of the main character, Marguerite, played by Ella Rumpf. Spectacular, for her creation of a quirky, stunted, gutsy, funny person who is rough, tender, intelligent, dumb, violent, unguarded, frank, and grabbing life by the juevos. Of course, massive credit to the writer/director, the other writer, the whole cast, the whole crew. This is a small film, in its reach, yet it touches on universal truths. A trope on Good Will Hunting, in some ways, an addition to the ouvre of math films. But it really is a star turn for Ms. Rumpf, who made me remember why I became an actor. She's very, very good, and has a fine cast around her.

It was a weird one to watch. Different

It was a weird one to watch. Different from other movies who deal with similar subjects, for sure. It also seemed like 2 different movies in one and at least half or more is not interesting at all. If you watch the cover for this movie, you would think this is a totally different movie than it ended up being. It is still worth watching, but don't expect much. Also, expect to be weirded out by some scenes.

If this was a comedy, I need to have my head examined. In any event, this is a very nice drama where the awkward, brainy girl finally does succeed. Very nice acting, photography and music. On Tubi.
