Hi! This is a low budget movie based on the mexican movie "El Incidente" (IMDb: tt3528756). A strong giveaway is James line: "Why not an endless staircase?". It's decent, with the view of millenials, but the original "Incidente" is way better!
Very low budget. I was pretty disappointed that "untold horrors and cosmic forces" turns out to just be other people screaming in the woods stuck in the same bizarre situation. I think the brightest moments in the film are when they're trying to figure out the rules of the road and come up with solutions to find a way out, but all in all it's pretty dull. Spoilers: It's right in the title, the road does have an end. A very anti-climactic, boring end. They don't meet God or get attacked by everyone there or discover some Lovecraftian entity, it's just a sign after driving for over a million miles. Dude just gets back in his car and turns around. No one hungers and the cars seem to continue running without gas, so if they could just organize and calm everybody down it could maybe be a sort of pleasant experience. It's definitely supposed to be some sort of purgatory, there's a scene where the car won't start and all but one have given up and then the car finally starts again immediately after he says "please God help me" so maybe there's the vaguest hint of a religious message in here. Honestly I think I'm giving this movie too much credit. Thanks a lot Letterboxd.
I actually loved it. Much better than recent horror movies like "Woman in the yard", Anyways I love driving / road movies with horror elements.
"sorrounded by untol horrors and cosmic forces" WHAT? It's just a bunch of mocking kids inside a car and endless driving until the movie ends. so fu¢k1ng boring. glad the movie ENDS.
jfc you all act like a bad movie is the worst thing that could happen to you. chill tf out. it's fine. it's a movie, put it on and watch it so you don't lose patience with your tiny brain and beat your wife in your favorite red hat
I've never said this before and meant it to this degree: don't watch this movie. I almost turned it off at the 15 min mark and i even regret watching the rest at 1,5 speed.
"Decent movie" hal thinks he's intelligent, because he enjoys watching therapy sessions, trauma dumping and therapeutic screaming. There isn't a story, which is the point of watching a movie. Nothing gets resolved. Even the characters are so bored, they just want out. Isn't it refreshing, when the message of the movie is "just give up"?
Its one of the most "film school script" movies I've ever seen. first 10 minutes is cringe and you wanna turn it off. next 30 minutes tricks you into thinking it might be really good. Last 50 minutes of the film are just boring nothing, a surface level allegory for something? Waste of time. skip this one. 3/10
