This satire is odd from every angle. and really slow made this boring. cinematography isn't bad. Natalie Wood is too old for the role but ironically worked. Great performance.

It's strange, interesting, all over the place at times, and almost good. The acting is the bedrock as everyone turns in solid performances. The problem here is that Natalie Wood isn't 15 years old and clearly is older and its an eye sore for one and second there is some bizarre scenes that hold the chemistry back that everyone has. The music is decent but Wood doesn't have a gifted singing voice but is above average, the set pieces are of varying quality and most of the numbers don't tie into the plot. The choreography/sets have hit or miss design. The editing is decent and the pacing is a bit all over the place. Same can be said for cinematography which wasn't bad either. The camerawork is good though it feels like it can be a bit slow at times. There are multiple times throughout this where there is just bizarre actions that happen like Woods Mom being crazy, Redford being Bi, her trying to kill herself where it isn't shocking it comes across as out of nowhere or underdeveloped or not fitting the tone of the rest of the film. This clearly wants to be and for the most part succeeds at being dark but it sometimes is bizarre instead. It also needed more development time showing Woods relationship before she became famous with her mother and sister. The relationship with Redford is just forgotten about it seems as it takes up a huge chunk of runtime. And it needed to dedicate more time showing her rise to fame as its difficult to relate to her and care for her struggles when the choppy story telling and bizarre scenes get in the way. Also, after being dark and bizarre for most of the time, the ending is kind of out of left field and out of place. I sincerely was confused if I was supposed to laugh or if was unintentionally funny or trying to build tension. It wasn't clear and was out of place with everything else. This just needed to stay more dark than bizarre, give more time to Woods development with family before being a star, make Wood older than 15, and add about 30-40 minutes to the runtime to make it smoother and a different ending. If your a fan of any actors in this or Hollywood Story satires give this a watch. Otherwise I can't imagine most people getting into this.

Daisy would have had to be tough in

Daisy would have had to be tough in the 30's to be even offered a movie role, and she falls apart over nothing. Apart from Marilyn Monroe who took pills, actresses usually did not commit suicide. She blows up her house for what? To live on skid row? When the story line doesn't mesh, I can't enjoy the movie.
