I saw this black crime comedy drama back

I saw this black crime comedy drama back in 1997, with Tupac Shakur, Tim Roth, and Thandie Newton as Stretch, Spoon and Cookie, bandmates in a spoken word band and heroin addicts. I remember liking this film then, but re-seeing it again breathes life into other opinions. This is not "Trainspotting", trying to really portray the world of heavy drug use. Here we get a wishy washy handling of this grim topic, not really making you believe that these characters are heroin addicts nor musicians. And the fact is that non of the main characters are likeable in any way, which makes you as a viewer not really care if they kick their habit or get killed while trying to dodge the police and local criminals. The narrative is really thin and never really excites you. I think "GridLock´d" is a failed and flawed film for what it tries to convey.
