Plot summary

In 1575, the young soldier Miguel de Cervantes is captured on the high seas by Barbary pirates and taken to Algiers as a hostage. Aware that a cruel death awaits him if his family does not pay his ransom soon, he finds refuge in his passion for storytelling.

A stunning film that is best watched closely

A stunning film that is best watched closely, with an eye out for explanations - which do exist for every single moment. There is nothing accidental here: not an image, nor a word. Anyone who watches carefully will notice how the film is surprisingly woven with echoes of recurring episodes. And the climax holds a surprise of its own: just like an optical illusion, some people will see one thing, while others see another. And what is your take on it?

An emotional and magic ride wich escalates till

An emotional and magic ride wich escalates till the climax end. A very faithful work to the historic documents. Film expands in the relationship between Cervantes and his captor Baja. Cervantes kept his life when others where punished to the death for minor offenses.
