Plot summary

When a young couple goes to a remote wooded lake for a romantic getaway, their quiet weekend is shattered by an aggressive group of local kids. Rowdiness quickly turns to rage as the teens terrorize the couple in unimaginable ways, and a weekend outing becomes a bloody battle for survival.

Made an account just to write this. Eden Lake wants credit for being "brave" and "unflinching," but strip away the pretense and it's just 90 minutes of relentless torture with nothing to say. The "social commentary" defenders love to cite never actually lands it's lazy class-stereotyping dressed up as insight, not a genuine critique of anything. Every character decision exists purely to prolong the suffering, the villains face zero consequences, and the ending isn't "bold," it's just nihilistic for shock value. I didn't feel challenged or moved, I just felt exhausted and vaguely insulted that the film thinks bleakness automatically equals depth. Save yourself. As a fan of Michael Fassbender I wish I never watched this.

SPOILER ALERT! This movie is beyond screwed up. The adults don't call the police when they should. The man just walks into someone else's home instead of noting the address & calling the police. The couple don't pack their things & simply move somewhere else on the beach . Instead the ADULT man antagonizes & eggs on the children, after which he should then have packed up & moved somewhere else on the beach. And after the flat tire they should deffinately have called or gone to the police since they were obviously in town & could drive. This movie is completely unrealistic unless these two adults wanted to be attacked & murdered when they got to the beach. Stupid. Very & utterly stupid.

Writing this in the hopes to counter LOW IQ reviews making this a mid starred movie. This is an amazing movie, it makes you feel the THRILL and it’s realistic (situation + wounds). I love the ending, the directors clearly had such an ending in mind, it’s a preference and for realism that’s how it should be! MUST FKIN WATCH!
