Disney+ offers several well-made documentaries. One of them, Disneyland Handcrafted, explores the planning and construction of the original Disneyland park. In many ways the film works as a cleverly packaged advertisement whose purpose is to increase visitor numbers and polish the public image of The Walt Disney Company. Even so, Disney documentaries are often fascinating, especially when Walt Disney himself appears on screen. The program explains why Disneyland was built in the first place. Walt wanted to create a theme park where the whole family could enjoy rides, food and entertainment together. The documentary also reveals how demanding and meticulous Walt was as a boss. Ideas appeared so quickly that employees struggled to keep up, and money was often spent freely despite growing costs. The most interesting part is the construction footage and the vivid glimpse into the world of 1955, when Disneyland in Anaheim, California finally opened.
