I saw this years ago, better than the 'master of disguise' and other bs he ended up in (i'd assume with little choice in the matter), but in this one it's actually pretty decent even if a comedy. The idea of being thrown into a total mystery and the main character doesn't know what's going on either, with only a tape recorder to tell him what was last going on, then figuring out he's being played and turns it around. Not slapstick necessarily, but definitely some cringe oddities as well.
