Plot summary

Sakshi is eight months pregnant with her first child when she and Hemant are forced out of their home. They escape from the city and seek refuge in a house located deep inside sugarcane fields. The house is ridden with dark secrets that start unravelling as the story unfolds, posing a threat to Sakshi and her unborn child. Even as Sakshi tries to save herself and her unborn baby, scary sightings of three mysterious kids and a charred monster coupled with an eerie lullaby, emanating from an old transistor, wreak havoc with her sanity.

The movie starts as a simple horror film

The movie starts as a simple horror film with a creepy atmosphere and jump scares, but it turns into something much deeper. It made me feel very emotional and sad about the real-world social issues it shows, especially how society treats unborn girls.

It is mostly based on female homicides and has a nice story. However, if you just want to watch basic, boring killing and stabbing scenes, don't watch this. This movie is more than that.

Rating: 5.3/10 ⭐️ I expected a haunted house

Rating: 5.3/10 ⭐️ I expected a haunted house movie, but the focus on rural rituals and dark social issues totally caught me off guard. What Worked: The labyrinth-like sugarcane fields create a crazy claustrophobic vibe from the start. Nushrratt Bharuccha carries the film; her grounded acting makes the terror feel super authentic. I respect using folklore to tackle real-world evils over cheap jump scares. The Cuts: Since Sakshi is stuck in a room having visions, the middle part really dragged for me. Through my Methodist, faith and flag lens, themes of forced abortions, infanticide, and the occult are honestly super disturbing, pushing past typical horror. Also, keeping it spoiler-free, the twists felt super predictable early on. Verdict: A claustrophobic flick with a heavy message. Skip it if sensitive to extremely dark themes. Favorite Line: “You must stay here alone for the next three days.”
