Plot summary

As a Korean-American man raised in the Louisiana bayou works hard to make a life for his family, he must confront the ghosts of his past as he discovers that he could be deported from the only country he has ever called home.

A deeply emotional movie. Made me cry. Very timely today (in the Trump era). A really thoughtful meditation on the meaning of family and the bonds of human connection in a world that seems to want to tear families apart. Great acting. Interesting story. Wish the ending was a little different, but maybe I am wishing for a fairy tale when real life tends to be much more messy. Alicia Vikander shows once again that she is an amazingly versatile actress.

Blue Bayou is a sad movie. It's about adopted kids from different countries who are now adults that are being deported. There are somethings not right in this world and this is one of them. People are not perfect but the young man in this movie plays his part as a husband, step-father, and friend to try to give his family what every man tries to do, everything.
