This was a surprise. I admittedly had low expectations. As soon as it starts, there's a sense of high production values, even though it's a low budget film. The acting is spot on, the sense of dread is real, and that kid is just a treasure. It's not top tier horror like Talk To Me or Smile 2, but it does the job it set out to do. I especially love the fact that they're not afraid of telling a story that isn't focused on the "default" setting so many other stories are too lazy to get out of. It reminds us that we live in a world of alternate experiences and pushes the awareness of that fluidly. I love the cinematography and lighting choices that have you squinting but not confused at what's hiding in the shadows. For those who are like me that watch all manner of horror, this one should be on the list. Enjoy it! Thanks FREEMAN!!

I could care less about what the actors who are cast look like. Black, white, purple, polka dotted, what does it matter? What annoys me about MANY movies is the obligatory scene where they have to talk about/show some hate crime or insult. If the movie is about that, fantastic. Too often it has nothing to do with the actual movie plot and is forced in.

The movie is subpar; My rating is a 5 out of 10. The reason shortly summarized is an inconsistent plot with flashbacks going back and forth that make it so that the story isn't exactly easy to follow from a neutral perspective or point of view, and for the rest it's just a cookie cutter Boogeyman-like horror story. Of course keep in mind that you'll have to ignore the negative elements in the movie regarding the current time period "trend"..
