Plot summary

British writer Agatha Christie (1890-1976) published her first novel in 1920, in which the eccentric Belgian private sleuth Hercule Poirot made his debut. Later, in 1927, the first short story starring the gentle spinster Miss Jane Marple appeared. A fascinating journey through popular culture in search of the footprints of two of the most charismatic characters in crime and mystery literature.

The contemporary murder mystery writers hail Christiee.

This doc about the queen of crime is based on her so called ten best books, chronogically listed ; don't panic,"the murder of Roger Acroyd" " murder on the orient express" "death on the nile" and of course "and then there were none " are included ; a new generation intervenes ,and it's very interesting to hear Anthony Horowitz (now my favorite murder mystery writer: "magpie murders " is a must and made him Mrs Christie's first heir) and Sophie Hannah (who told new Poirot mysteries ) talk out about her huge influence;they are not the only ones: Ruth Ware ,Peter Swanson ("nine lives" which I recommend ,is a tribute to "and then there were none" ) , Gretchen Mac Neill (who registered the same desire as Swanson, but,IMHO ,dismally failed with her "ten" ,close to plagiarism),and many more .Remember that ,in the eighties,it was considered polite to put disparagement on Mrs Christie : "To say that Agatha Christie's characters are cardboard cut-outs is an insult to cardboard cut-outs."Mrs Ruth Rendell said " and Mrs PD James was not kinder. In the twenty-first century , a whole generation claims her influence :you should hear Horowitz talk about "and the there were none" ,part of his murder mystery top three ; a strong plus is the tapes where Christie talks about her work, never heard before.
