Plot summary

"Touring makes you crazy," Frank Zappa says, explaining that the idea for this film came to him while the Mothers of Invention were touring. The story, interspersed with performances by the Mothers and the Royal Symphony Orchestra, is a tale of life on the road. The band members' main concerns are the search for groupies and the desire to get paid.

Really a great movie if you don't take

Really a great movie if you don't take it all too seriously. It's very witty.

One of the lousiest movies I've ever had

One of the lousiest movies I've ever had the misfortune to sit through. Well, actually not all the way through. I stopped watching after about 30 minutes. The movie was so stupid I guess you have to be stoned to like it. I don't get stoned, and I won't get stoned to watch this piece of dreck.

An absurd vision from a drug addled mind

An absurd vision from a drug addled mind to splendorous effect. Packed to the gills with imaginative scenes and surprisingly good acting from Zappa's band-mates and colleagues. A bit nonsensical in its storyline, but works perfectly for the psychadelically induced. 200 motels had a one and a million chance to be made by a major motion picture studio but I'm glad Zappa's vision slipped through the cracks.
