Decent movie. A blend of The Happening and A Quiet Place. Which one is better doesn't matter since these types of movies are rarely explored in Hollywood and all are worth a watch (though in my opinion Quiet Place is 3x better). John Malkovich is good, as usual. Movie could've been better but it's enough for me to demand a Bird Box 2.
No stupid jokes and s3x, just pure action and thrills with a nice plot. If you're looking for realistic naval action, go watch a documentary. Otherwise, download this movie, schedule a movie night with your family, buy some popcorn and pizza, plug this movie to your TV and enjoy. It's like Sum of All Fears meets Hunt for Red October. Only problem I have are with the actors but eh, if I could have fun and watch those action movies from the 80s (with their cliches and shitty acting - compared to today's standards) then so can I with this movie.
Anyways, this movie is actually fun though! For those looking for subtitles, check out yts-subtitles and just adjust the timing with VLC media player
1 thing I notice with IMDB ratings is that non-hollywood movies are rated higher. My country, Philippines, released a movie a few years ago and it made news on local television that it's a 10 at IMDB, like as if IMDB is full of professional critics, anyone can register and rate. Meanwhile it didn't even get the attention of pro rating sites such as rotten tomatoes and metacritic.
Masterpiece. Best space exploration movie since Kubrick's Space Odyssey. Nonetheless, it's a hit or miss. If you don't feel emotionally connected to the movie, then the entire ending will fall flat. It just basically throws away all the science and just goes "love is the answer". If you're looking for a better executed scifi movie, check out Arrival: more critically acclaimed -just check out Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes- plus it doesn't rely on sentiments to seal the movie.
