Commercial Korean movie with irrational characters and a hard to sell story. Probably it was too difficult to come up with a surprising plot, so the script relies on "smart" solutions à la Netflix that at the end are not that smart. You can watch it if you don't have nothing better to do. It is not unwatchable.
Good example of non-Bollywood cinema. Story is kind of linear but in general the movie is pretty solid. Good insight of Indian society together with some universal elements about relationships, life and family. No "action" whatsoever in this movie, so the label could be adapted. Recommended.
Good movie. Surprisingly critic of the Chinese system and it still leaves some room for debate about the Chinese "open up" to the capitalist system. A light Kafkian tone that is pleasant to watch and it doesn't drag with unnecessary elements. Old city vs countryside elements are also there for some debate. Recommended.
Some holes in the plot and cheap special effects affect the movie's overall quality. Not a bad one but not memorable. Watch the Swedish movie The Border instead. A better blend of Nordic folk with real-life issues.
Chan Wook's filmography is made of ups and downs. This one is rather flat. The first part is somehow entertaining, the second is explanatory and the third is pure deus ex machina. The most powerful thing on this movie is the strong acting and of course, the nice girl-girl action :) The movies does not take itself too seriously so you shouldn't either. Very far from Wook's powerful romantic comedy "I'm a cyborg but that's OK".
