Ill give it a shot, just because it loos decent, but not as great at the 90's Hong Kong version "Swordsman ll" with Jet Li and Bridgette Lin. I hate that they keep remaking this into a cinema, because they never get it right, especially with the villain, "Dongfang Bubai" who has grown popular outside of the novel, a book that HE really appears in for a small amount of time, like very small, just a chapter or two at most. Modern incarnations always cast a female in the roll, but Dongfang Bubai is actually a self-castrated man in order to achieve and fully perfect the ancient manual script. Why is it always a female portraying the role? Well two males have played the role, but these are Hong Kong cinema though, never Mainland Chinese ones. After castrating himself, Dongfang Bubai began to display very feminine traits, as his voice pitch got higher and he began wearing make up and women's robes, even learned how to sow and knit. Even went as far as to take a male lover, Yang Lianting, though I don't think the guy actually liked Dongfang Bubai, but he liked the power and authority he received though.
This movie is too funny. Unfortunately it came out during a time when female-lead films that pertained to violence unrelated to action film's were not really thar sought out after. So this film slipped under the radar for quite sometime until it hit the DVD format.
