@Rowinium Thank you for the update. I can't wait to hopefully see this movie soon. I loved the first one. ^.^
@weiiquann I still don't quite understand that logic. Thinking like a company that makes a product, you should want as wide a consumer base as possible, that way you can make and sell more product. Especially since this one is turning into a franchise it seems with this sequel. More people able to enjoy it would mean more chances for making money. More movies, and merch for people to get. I don't see dubs as disrespectful either. They're not trying to replace the original actors or say their performances were bad. They're just making it easier for those that don't understand the original language, to engage with the story. Sharing culture and ideas, maybe change some minds or inspire others to create something of their own.
@weiquann What's lame and boring is not being able to reach a broader audience. That's why dubs exist, and SHOULD exist. So EVERYONE can enjoy things, expand their horizons, and share ideas. That's why the internet was created. We all enjoy things in different ways. Watching it subbed isn't wrong, watching it dubbed isn't wrong. We all get the same story either way. How is that lame or pathetic?
@weiiquann Imagine being so up your own nose that you gate keep something good from others because they can't read fast enough for subtitles. Not everyone can enjoy things the same way. If you like subbed and not dubbed, great. If you like dubbed and not subbed, also great. It means we all get to enjoy the same thing to talk about how good or bad it is.
I'm pretty harsh on movies that I watch. I read the comments here and just finished watching the movie. I thought it was an interesting take on the formula. The original radio broadcast of the book was inspired, this is a modern day version of that. Yeah, the cg was a little out of place. But that can be overlooked for the story of a family trying to do everything they can for each other. Tom Cruise had his version, which was more of a civilian focus. This is a different take on it. Like if that one and Independence Day had a kid. This would be that kid. And anyone coming at the film with "black fatigue" or calling it "woke". Grow up. Skin color doesn't and should never matter. ^.^
