@erblaa You are right at the time of the civil war it was the republican abolitionists vs the democrat slave owners but heres what you are missing. Then the republican party was liberal and the democrats were conservative and it stayed that way until the great party switch in 1965 when democrat president LBJ signed the civil rights act. Then the conservatives felt the democractic party no longer shared their values amd the liberals felt the republican party no longer shared theirs. Now it is the liberal democrats and conservative republicans. So while what youy said was the truth it wasnt the whole truth. The racists in the republican party have fathers or grandfathers who were democrats.
