No Mercy (Korean: ??? ??; RR: Yongseoneun eopda), also known as Yongseoneun eupda, is a 2010 South Korean crime thriller film written and directed by Kim Hyeong-jun. Starring Sul Kyung-gu, Ryoo Seung-bum, and Han Hye-jin, the movie follows a forensic pathologist who is blackmailed by a serial killer into tampering with evidence to secure his release, only to discover a devastating personal connection to the victims. Plot: The story centers on Kang Min-ho, a top forensic expert, who examines a dismembered corpse and helps the police suspect environmental activist Lee Sung-ho. When Kang’s daughter is kidnapped, Lee forces Kang to destroy evidence within three days to prevent her death, initiating a manipulative psychological game. Twist: The film culminates in a shocking revelation that the dismembered body Kang autopsied and tampered with was actually his own daughter, while the real victim, Oh Eun-ah, was held hostage. Lee’s ultimate goal was revenge against Kang for perverting justice in a previous case involving Lee’s sister. Reception: The film grossed approximately US$7.3 million and earned Sul Kyung-gu the Best Actor award at the 18th Chunsa Film Art Awards. It is frequently cited alongside other acclaimed Korean thrillers like Oldboy and I Saw the Devil for its intense atmosphere and graphic narrative.
