The film almost solely focuses on shot composition

The film almost solely focuses on shot composition and not much else. Characters speak like caricatures, which sometimes works tremendously in a film, but here felt extremely forced. Plot is weak and incoherent. Call me a philistine but this is probably my least favourite To film.

It is a little hard to understand for

It is a little hard to understand for a westerner but the fights are great, the acting I'd terrific and the directing is dupurb. It does a great job showing you the wonder of Judo.

One of my favorite Johnnie To movies. Casting and line-up was perfect. Great performances across the board. I'm glad it made its way to Criterion.
