Plot summary

Despite its stand-alone title, this mixture of martial arts and exploitation is a semi-sequel to Shaw Brothers's Flying Guillotine series. This time, the focus is Rong Qui-yan, a kung fu student turned dutiful wife whose life falls apart when her husband is murdered by a squad of government operatives led by the duplicitous Jin Gang-Feng. Qui-yan is forced to go into hiding as she plots her revenge and finds allies in fellow fugitive Ma Seng and ex-lover Wang-jun.

This is an entertaining Shaw Bros movie! I

This is an entertaining Shaw Bros movie! I was searching for something to watch last night and came across this one knowing nothing about it so I took a chance and hit "play." The pregnant wife of a government official escapes death when her husband and everyone else in the house are killed by corrupt officials. On her way to safety she reconnects with a man from her past and a former assassin. They travel together to her new home but she's pursued by bad guys who want to finish the job and kill her. However, she's a highly skilled martial artist and doesn't make it easy for them. While the movie doesn't reinvent the wheel it moves along at a good pace with good fight scenes and characters. It's worth a look!

Typical Shaw Bros kung-fu extravaganza

Shaw Bros studio never famous for a coherent story in their flick cause to be honest usually the twists is just an excuse for more fight scene so the same goes for The Vengeful Beauty a 1978 kung-fu flick directed by Meng Hua Ho the man who introduce the most fearsome weapon ever invented in China history"The Flying Guillotine".You don't want to mess with any of Shaw Bros character no matter how they look like cause there 95% of chance they can kill more people than you imagine let alone a pregnant widow in this movie.Don't think too much about the plot and enjoy a series of fight scenes in The Vengeful Beauty and you will be fine.
