Plot summary

The Emperor's armies have developed a new weapon: a thrown blade that can remove someone's head from long distance. As the paranoid Emperor begins decapitating anyone he fears might be a threat, his guard Mau Tang becomes disillusioned with the excesses of his master. He leaves his post and takes up the quiet life of farming and raising a family. Eventually, though, his past catches up with him, and he must find a way to fight the flying guillotine if he is to save his head.

A Masterpiece of Kung Fu Movie a very

A Masterpiece of Kung Fu Movie a very extraodinary Movie about a Mad Mandschu Emperor who overrule the Chinese and create a Special Unit who hunt down the Chinese and kill them with Flying Guillotine which is very violent that much Head's get chopped off in this Film one of this Guards are getting desillusioned and don't want to kill People any more and fall in Love with a Chinese Girl but there is no Retreat of this Unit so they hunt him. He flee with his Wife to a Farm and get's a Farmer but they found him so he must kill all of them. A Unorthodox Story, Bounding Style, Bombastic Music and High Skilled Martial Arts and lot of Dark Comedy make this Movie to a Pure Pleasure.

Tendo feito até uma pesquisa a respeito da tal guilhotina, verifiquei que não há comprovação histórica de sua existência, porém um programa criou e replica e a guilhotina funcionou com bonecos, eu prefiro acreditar na magia das lendas, mesmo essa sendo trágica, Ma Teng tem carisma, aliada a esposa e o lindo bebe, o roteiro atrativo, e bem desenvolvido, o clima de perseguição, e as cenas com as Guilhotinas em funcionamento (exageradas, mas exuberantes) tudo nos conquista, e encanta… Muito bom..

The Flying Guillotine is a badass weapon. This a good entry in the Shaw catalog just don't expect it to be a mother-fucker like Master of the Flying Guillotine. There's just not enough 'special' touches like a kickass villain, a smoking score & a raging climax to put it on that level. If your a fan of the genre though it's quite enjoyable though even if it's a bit long. I guess that it had to be though as it's really a 4 part movie as you get the origin of the weapon, the training, the assassinations & then the man hunt for Mau Tang who has descensioned from the Emperor. Some of it could have been thinned down a bit or maybe saved for the sequel but all in all a good time. Very interested to see what part 2 has to offer
