A very interesting thing happened while watching this

A very interesting thing happened while watching this documentary. The first half or so is your basic crime procedural with interviews with the police, the loved ones of the victims, the people who knew the accused, etc. But as the film went on, I became more and more enthralled - not necessarily with the events themselves but with the ethical and moral questions that filled my mind. And particularly with an interview of the man who did the actual murders - he refreshingly admits to what he did, doesn't try to assign blame elsewhere and comes across as extremely level headed considering the crimes he committed. While I obviously don't condone what he did, it got me thinking about the whole criminal justice system. Your reaction to this documentary will most certainly be influenced by your thoughts on capital punishment and the criminal justice system. And I'm still on the fence about what I think about Charity herself, her involvement in the crime and what transpires afterwards. A seemingly simple documentary suddenly flooded me with all kinds of things to think about - my mind hasn't been in hyperdrive like this for a long time. Opinions will surely be divisive as to whether justice prevailed, but the movie itself is intense and thought provoking.

Very good documentary

I first heard about this tragedy in March 2022 while watching Forensic Files II. In Forensic Files II they mentioned how Phillip Stroud's death penalty was changed to life without and Charity was charged from 165 years to six years. First off my heart goes out to the victim's family and friends. Secondly, I wish Stroud's death penalty was not changed. Thirdly, without Charity, they would never have known about that house, how to get to that house and how to avoid the alarms. Lastly, Charity heard Stroud say if anyone was home he would kill them and she still did nothing. In addition, I understand that Charity's family and friends cared more for her than the three victims but listening to them try to make her out to be this nice, but naïve girl and the media was at fault was sickening. However, I would not have given her 165 years because without her feeling sad, telling a co-worker what happen, and speaking to the police (along with the dog's feces) this case might not have ever been solved according to Forensic Files II; therefore, 20 years would have been appropriate. I was impressed that Stroud admit his guilt and he did not try to blame anyone else.
