Plot summary

When the experienced guide Vic accompanies the city boy Alan and his three friends on their first wilderness experience, he not only hopes to teach the four boys lessons about the wilderness, but about themselves. Vic pushes them to the limit. Soon after alienating the boys, Vic finds himself in desperate need of help and must rely on his students in order to survive.

Big fun lolz! 5 stars alone for B-side Bruce Hornsby tunes in the soundtrack. That Northface gear back in ‘87 musta cost half the movies budget! Also I’d never let my kid or anyone else’s cross that sketchy bridge. Edit to add: the cinematographer also did Stanley Kubricks ‘The Shining’ and ‘A Clockwork Orange’

Vic might be one of my favorite characters

Vic might be one of my favorite characters in all of cinema. He's cool, resourceful, an absolute leader and a winner. He's a bad ass with standards. Principles. Oh, you don't like Vic? You think he's a jerk? You would say that. You probably gave "White Water Summer" 2 stars. Okay, nerd. Go back to NYU and cry in your mom's boyfriend's dorm room. This movie's for modern, rugged masculine men, men who sleep next to other men in pitched tents under the stars, take off their shirts in the hot sun so beads of sweat can trickle down the napes of their necks across freckled flesh into toasty navels. This movie's about freedom, unbridled masculinity in a world where the real you is pushed into a closet, a deep, dark, shameful closet of cubicles and desk jobs. Not this summer, this summer these boys are bustin' out, gushing like a white water geyser not you, or your parents or society can hold back. So don't even try it. Because it's White, it's Water, and it's SUMMER.
