Plot summary

Stressed by a recent move and being a stay-at-home mom, Teeny takes out her bottled-up rage on her daughter Robbie. Only the help of her friends, family and counselors can stop her from harming Robbie and herself.

Ticks me off. it is his fault. movies

ticks me off. it is his fault. movies it is far to often men's fault even when abuser is a woman. I hate it. my mother abused me and my sister while dad didn't know till yrs after he certainly didn't contribute to it in anyway he was loving,kind dad even if he naive man,husband and dad. I hate how movies always blame the man

I think I've come to an epiphany as

I think I've come to an epiphany as to why TV movies - especially in the 70s and 80s - are rarely very good and hardly ever come close to the quality of theatrical motion pictures. The characters are not real people, they are ciphers; and they take backseat to whatever controversial topic the film is sensationalizing, whether it be bulimia or incest or ingrown toenails or, in this case, child abuse. Movies like this are basically after school specials for adults. Thankfully, in the last 25 years or so the quality of television films has increased enormously. This could have been something special - and there's actually a very nice scene toward the end of the movie between Ladd and Urich that feel raw and real - something the rest of the movie lacks. I think it was also a bad miscalculation to make the young child here an absolute brat who blows up at the smallest provocation - it almost feels like a way for the filmmakers to somewhat excuse Ladd's behavior, which is the last thing they should be doing. And with all due respect, why did they have to name the lead character Teeny???? Puh-leeze!

Not So Bad...

On a recent Biography Channel profile of Cheryl Ladd, this TV-Movie was featured prominently, including interviews with Director Hunt, partly because it instilled Ms. Ladd with a life-long crusade to prevent child abuse. I remember watching this movie when it first aired, as it starred my favorite "Angel", along with my TV Hero forever: Robert Urich. The two give great performances, however I thought the 'graphic' scenes of Ladd abusing her daughter were tame, at least from what might actually be going on behind closed doors every day in homes across America. Most of the action is verbal, with one physical incident that sends her child to hospital. Equally important are the actions and re-actions of Urich, in a performance to identify with. If you are a fan of either or both actors, this is well worth seeing.
