Plot summary

Amos Gitai returns to the occupied territories for the first time since his 1982 documentary FIELD DIARY. WEST OF THE JORDAN RIVER describes the efforts of citizens, Israelis and Palestinians, who are trying to overcome the consequences of occupation. Gitai's film shows the human ties woven by the military, human rights activists, journalists, mourning mothers and even Jewish settlers. Faced with the failure of politics to solve the occupation issue, these men and women rise and act in the name of their civic consciousness. This human energy is a proposal for long overdue change.

Disjointed, biased review of what is going on

Disjointed, biased review of what is going on in the West Bank. A very disappointing movie- it lacked depth, balance and any new information that is not already known. And he completely leaves out any context to make any claims the people he interviews believable.

Though Gitai is a great director here he made a super common mistake- he presented all the views like they are having similar wight in their perspective population, which is a great deception. For the viewer it might seem that the 10 nice ladies who have learned to mourn together have the same weight as the martyrs (who he somehow failed to find in this of all peaceful nation of Palestinians), well it's not, those are probably the only 10 nice ladies there & most of the others love Hamas. Also somehow Gitai failed to mention who was at fault at all the peace talks (let me supply you with the answer- Palestinian politicians). That conflict is definitely taking a huge toll on the Israelis both physical and mental but until the Palestinians won't find a leader who's willing to compromise they are dooming both of these nations to the conflict
