Plot summary

Based on the well-loved Australian classic by Mrs. Aeneas Gunn, this is the remarkable true story of Jeannie Gunn, a woman who fought to overcome sexual and racial prejudice amid the harsh beauties of the outback. Leaving her Melbourne existence for a new life on her husband's isolated ranch, Jeannie's feisty, good-natured attitude soon wins over the misogynistic stockmen, but she faces a much tougher challenge in trying to change their racist attitudes towards the indigenous aboriginal population.

The film doesn't quite hold up as it

The film doesn't quite hold up as it did 30 years ago due to the pieces of filler somewhat found in the movie. However, in the Land Down Under, it was certainly a big film at the time. We of the Never Never doesn't quite have stars that are the most engaging, but they all put in their money's worth, along with a down-to-earth plot to boot.

Currently watching 'We of the Never Never' on DVD at Jeannie's Kitchen, Mataranka Homestead NT, where the movie was actually filmed - and they still have the replica Homestead standing. The movie plays daily at noon in the bar

I just watched the DVD. Refreshing to see

I just watched the DVD. Refreshing to see a really great movie with no special effects. A really good watch and a very believable story.
