Plot summary

A young boy named Dallas goes on a search for his pool-hustling father after he abandons their family. Dallas is determined to bring his father home when he meets Joe Haley, a drifter wrestling with a past he'd rather forget, who feels responsible for Dallas' safety and reluctantly takes him in.

This is a very heartwarming and must see movie. It's so realistic and genuine that you feel like you're watching a real life story of a strained relationship between father and son. If you want a heartfelt story, this is definitely the movie for you.

Only positive was the acting performance by Strathairn. Otherwise a pretty predictable and dull movie. I thought they could at least make the pool playing scenes a little bit more interesting.
