Plot summary

Astronauts crash-land on Venus and find themselves in trouble when they kill a monster that is worshipped by a group of Venusian women. Re-edited version of Soviet sci-fi Planet of Storms (1962) by Pavel Klushantsev, dubbed into English with additional scenes.

A Masterpiece. See it, under any circumstances. Director: Peter Bogdanovich (as Derek Thomas) Writer: Henry Ney (screenplay) Stars: Mamie Van Doren, Mary Marr, Paige Lee Astronauts landing on Venus encounter dangerous creatures and almost meet some sexy Venusian women who like to sun-bathe in hip-hugging skin-tight pants and seashell brassieres. Trivia This is actually a re-edited version of a film previously released in the U.S. as Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet (1965), which itself was an edited and dubbed version of the Soviet film Planeta bur (1962). For this version the already dubbed Russian footage was re-used but the American insert shots of Basil Rathbone and Faith Domergue were removed and new insert shots featuring Mamie Van Doren and other actresses (as inhabitants of Venus) were inserted. The film takes place in 1998. The "Prehistoric Women" do not appear in the original Russian film from which this was made.

Despite being called 'Planet of the Prehistoric Women

Despite being called 'Planet of the Prehistoric Women', the prehistoric women are barely in it. The story instead focuses on the astronauts that are exploring the planet Venus in the George Jetson car with a 'Danger Will Robinson' robot (sorry, I can't remember the name of it). Then they get attacked by a pterodactyl. There. You literally got every highlight of the film now. Now take 90-minutes to read my review and you've got the whole film. If you're still intrigued, have at it. I tried to warn you.
