Plot summary

The staff and vacationers at a first-class resort on the island of Maui are beginning to mysteriously disappear. A biologist believes that an underwater earthquake has caused a giant and very hungry dormant prehistoric fish to be released from its slumber. The fish voraciously helps itself to a tourist buffet. Now it is open season for the local fishermen to find and kill the creature.

A very odd Jaws knockoff that has both

A very odd Jaws knockoff that has both LONG stretches of boredom, and scenes of absolute craziness, but you may not last that long. I dunno, a thing is discovered in the water, but of course the owner of the Hawaiian resort doesn't tell a soul about it even when bodies start piling up. The owner also gets to the witnesses to these attacks, and THEY'RE rather non-chalant about the whole thing too. Finally people wise up, and all hell breaks loose. A tedium ho-hum.

Shameless Jaws ripoff. Some gratuitous sleaze might have saved this but with no skin and no gore the film only consists of clueless tourists getting pulled underwater while a handful of slightly less clueless "characters" try to figure out what's going on.

At a certain point in the movie it

At a certain point in the movie it becomes a spoof... you'd just never know it cause it isn't at all funny. Took me a few minutes of failed sight gags to realize it myself. Oh, and the film prior to the switchover is duller than dirt. There's not enough topless women and inexplicable explosions (Corman staples) to save this. By my count there's one topless woman and two inexplicable explosions in the one hour twenty-five minute runtime. Yeah. So... not nearly enough.
